Tiago Ferreira (Tiago)

History (where did you start astronomy from)

Around 30y ago, from binoculars and a cheap refractor similar to Tasco. Connected and attracted to the sky since i remember myself existence (if that counts).

Where did you hear about EAA?

On Cloudy Nights

What are your expectations?

To never loose the fun of doing EAA. If possible, a larger Dobsonian to watch even deeper.

What do you already have?

A cheap refractor and 2 Dobsonian Telescopes

Budget (cost of starting kit, cost of current kit)

My started and main kit are the same: a 12″ Dob + ZWO 294 camera + Geoptik Eartha Equatorial Platform had a cost of around 2200€ at that time

How much is too much?

It depends on what you have.

OTA (advice)

That depends on many things. I can’t give a general advice. To me any >= 8″ Dobsonian Telescope, if you have space for it, if you like EAA and also VISUAL.

Mount (advice)

That also depends on many things. I can’t give a general advice. Dobsonian with tracking like an equatorial platform or other system is my preference.

Camera(s) and preferred targets and techniques.

ZWO ASI294MC all targets, any technique that has simplicity and brings fun to it. Sharpcap live stacking is what i mostly use.

What don’t you like about EAA?

Nothing. The learning curve takes time but is part of the fun. Like Life itself.
